In 1982, five years after leaving Guildhall, Art was cast as Hari Kumar in the internationally acclaimed "Jewel In the Crown". 

It was whilst filming "Jewel", that David Lean cast him in "A Passage to India".  With the release of these two projects being virtually together in 1984, Art Malik had arrived!
